November 4, 2021 12:00 pm – 4:15 pm ET
We will explore current trends, practical solutions and innovative projects in the world of wood-frame and mass timber construction. As light wood-frame construction continues to be the system of choice for many developers, we’ll discuss practical detailing solutions for energy efficiency, fire resistance and noise control while highlighting the work of ambitious developers who are pushing the possibilities for taller projects. We’ll also examine what’s new in mass timber design, highlighting the growing use of hybrid systems, and advancements in test data and code provisions that have eased the burden of designing mass timber structures for fire -resistance and lateral loading. Striving for enhanced levels of sustainability and reductions in the embodied carbon associated with real estate portfolios continues to be a driving factor for developers, and we’ll hear firsthand why some are optimistic about mass timber’s use in a range of project typologies, including high-rise.
