Mark has over 35 years of executive and technical experience in the design, construction, and regulation of buildings and communities. As a fire chief and emergency manager in the US and New Zealand, he participated in building and fire code development as well as application, interpretation, and analyses to secure a safer, more sustainable, and resilient built environment. Mark’s on-site experience gives him unique insights when planning for fire life safety in the design of buildings and campuses. He has also served in executive roles for multiple fire and safety organizations, such as the Institution of Fire Engineers and the Chartered Management Institute. Since joining Code Unlimited, he has worked on multiple mass timber projects, including the record-breaking Flatworks building in Portland.
